In 2016, the Iowa Department of Revenue promulgated rules which require electronic filing of W-2 forms for Iowa businesses. To allow additional time to implement these new requirements, the Department has proposed new rules extending the phase-in for one year. As proposed, the amendment will only require withholding agents with at least 50 employees to file W-2 forms electronically for tax years 2016 and 2017.

ABI is seeking member volunteers to apply to serve on the reorganized Workforce Development Board. The composition of the board has changed dramatically due to result of HF572 being passed and signed into law this past legislative session.

The Iowa Senate on Monday passed HF 295, which preempts local governments from implementing ordinances that are different than those at the state level related to wages, benefits and hiring practices, as well as other types of prohibitions on private businesses.

In light of the Revenue Estimating Conference’s (REC) projections on the budget, Rep Pat Grassley (R-New Hartford), chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, filed HSB 187, which would limit and gradually reduce the amount of tax credits, affecting many business incentives.
