Water quality bill advances

House File 2451 has advanced through the House appropriations committee and now includes non-point sources in addition to municipalities. The financing aspect of the legislation includes: existing general fund dollars, money from the Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure Fund (RIIF) and money from the sales tax on metered water. When completely implemented the funding will be approximately $700 million for point and non-point water quality improvement projects. The bill is on the House debate calendar for Monday.
