State revenue estimates lowered
December 15, 2016
The state’s Revenue Estimating Conference met Monday to review revenues in the first half of the state fiscal year. Revenues continue to grow, but not as quickly as first projected. When the Legislature convenes in January, legislators will be expected to cut approximately $100 million from the Fiscal Year 2017 budget.
As the governor and Legislature seek to set the Fiscal Year 2018 budget, which begins July 1, 2017, conversations will take place on issues like collective bargaining reforms and the amount of backfill to local governments for 2013 property tax reform, to help meet budget goals in this tight budget environment.
