School funding sent to Governor

March 24, 2016

The Senate and House acted Wednesday to send to the Governor Senate File 174 and Senate File 175, establishing state aid for education. The legislation provides 2.25 percent increase in funding from the current year. The number also represents 87 percent of all new revenues available for the state budget. The budget is set at $7.35 billion for the 2017 fiscal year, which begins in July. The House and Senate are working to come together and agree on agency budget targets by the end of the week. At this point, the Legislature is working towards an on-time adjournment. April 19th is the scheduled 100th day of session.
