Prichard Elected House Minority Leader
November 21, 2018
As many predicted, the House Democrats elected a new minority leader in Rep. Todd Prichard during their caucus Saturday. After the announcement, Prichard, a well-respected veteran and rural legislator from Charles City, spoke about looking for issues like mental health and Medicaid that his caucus can work on in a bipartisan fashion. Prichard ran for governor, but dropped out to run again for the House. In addition to Rep. Prichard, the other Democrat assistant leaders include: Democratic Whip Rep. Jo Oldson–Des Moines and Reps. Wes Breckenridge–Newton, John Forbes–Urbandale, Brian Meyer–Des Moines and Sharon Steckman–Mason City.
