Polk County wage task force proposes increase
July 21, 2016
A task force appointed by the Polk County Board of Supervisors has recommended an increase in the minimum wage in the county. The wage increase would be gradual and will take place if the Iowa Legislature chooses not to act on a statewide increase. There has been debate among the task force whether to allow a lower wage for individuals in the service industry. Johnson County has already passed its own increase and other counties are considering similar action. Members of ABI’s employment and workforce committee will discuss this issue at the August 9 meeting. Make sure to register here.
