New rules for Property Assessment Appeals Board
May 26, 2016
The Department of Revenue proposed rules updating procedures when taxpayers file an appeal before the Property Assessment Appeals Board. The rule updates language and institutes an electronic filing system. The rule also addresses the applicability of changes to Iowa Rules of Civil Procedure in cases before the board. A complete draft of the rule as adopted and filed can be found here.
The Department of Revenue also has proposed several other rule changes, which may or may not affect your business. A couple of other rules include:
- changes to the business property tax credit claims
- broadband property tax exemptions
- dissolution of state board of tax review
- changes in dates for filing appeal with local boards of review.
