Iowa Senate Adopts Resolution for Ukraine

​​This week, the Iowa Senate adopted a resolution reaffirming the state’s relationship with Ukrainian people and supporting Ukraine’s efforts to remain an independent and autonomous nation. 

Iowa has a sister-state relationship with Chekasy Oblast, which was established in 1996 under former Gov. Terry Branstad. Additionally, several communities in Iowa have sister-city relationships with Ukraine. Last year, the state exported more than $73 million of commodities to Ukraine and imported more than $3 million of commodities from Ukraine.
