Governor signs bills, concludes legislative work

June 2, 2016

Gov. Terry Branstad on Friday signed the remaining pieces of policy and budget legislation into law. The governor also used his veto authority on only a few provisions in budget bills. Notably, Gov. Branstad called upon the Legislature to eliminate the use of one-time funding for ongoing expenses in the Department of Health and Human Services budget and he also line-item vetoed policy language delaying implementation of a new statewide academic assessment system for education.
