August 13, 2015
Gov. Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds this week announced a series of roundtable meetings focused on ways to better align education and workforce initiatives to close the skills gap and meet future employer needs. The first meeting kicked off Wednesday and marked the beginning of the larger “Future Ready Iowa” initiative which comes after Iowa received a grant from the National Governors Association of up to $170,000 to develop strategies to better align educational credentials with employer demand, which will also help advance programs like the Skilled Iowa Initiative, STEM initiative, Home Base Iowa, and the Iowa Apprenticeship and Job Training Program. Future roundtable meetings and details will be announced at a later date.
