ABI hits the ground running after election of pro-business candidates

November 10, 2016

Voters in Tuesday’s historic election shifted the balance of power in the Iowa Senate to the GOP. Now Republicans control the Iowa Senate, Iowa House and the governor’s office.

ABI’s public policy team had already begun discussions with key member experts, lobbyists and state agency officials in the lead up to the next General Assembly, which begins January 9. ABI will assess the priorities developed and passed by the ABI Board in September through the lens of the new political landscape. The coming weeks will be spent readying legislation, meeting with key legislators and developing alliances with other stakeholder groups. Watch for requests for feedback on any specific legislative proposals to come through ABI’s five policy committees. Click here to learn more about the committees and contact Michelle Vollstedt mvollstedt@iowaabi.org to join a committee.
