$100 Million Investment to Promote Iowa
April 7, 2022
This week, Gov. Reynolds announced an investment of $100 million for Destination Iowa. Destination Iowa “will provide grants to help communities move forward on transformational, shovel-ready attractions,” according to a release from Gov. Reynolds’ office. The funding stems from the American Rescue Plan Act.
“Communities in all corners of the state are creating unique destinations that give visitors a reason to explore and residents a reason to stay,” Gov. Reynolds said in a statement. "Destination Iowa will help more communities across the state move forward in their efforts to boost tourism and economic growth while enhancing the quality of life for Iowans.”
Four different funds – Economically Significant Development, Outdoor Recreation, Tourism Attraction, and Creative Placemaking – are available through Destination Iowa. People can start submitting applications beginning on May 9. Projects that receive Destination Iowa funding have a deadline of June 30, 2026.
