November 21, 2018

Iowa Workforce Development announced last Friday that Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 2.4 percent for the month of October, which ties the lowest percentage rate on record. The last time Iowa’s unemployment was at this rate was in March 2000. The 2.4 percentage means Iowa will continue to have second lowest unemployment rate in the country behind Hawaii. According to IWD, manufacturers in the state added 1,900 jobs in October. IWD also added that annually, manufacturing is up 9,000 jobs which is leading all sectors. Iowa’s unemployment rate remains well below the national average which is 3.7 percent.
