Iowa Sets Another Record for New Business Filings

Secretary of State Paul Pate declared Iowans broke the record for new business filings with 24,720 filings this fiscal year. This is the fourth consecutive year the record has been broken and reflects a 4.5% increase from fiscal year 2018. Fast Track Filing was put into effect in 2018, making the process much more efficient. Secretary Pate noted his enthusiasm for the increase and emphasized how vital a growing business community is to our state. He stated, “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, providing jobs and helping communities grow.” A news release from Secretary Pate’s office includes a detailed graph on business filings and a link to the database with active business entities.
