Governor Branstad signs bills into law

Last Friday, Gov. Terry Branstad signed 18 bills into law. A number of them impact ABI members and businesses around Iowa, including:

• House File 172: Updates Iowa’s nonprofit corporation act.
• House File 259: Codifies workers’ compensation laws related to independent contractors and sole proprietors.  
• House File 421: Allows applicants for community college instructors in technical education to use work experience at the secondary level to qualify.
• House File 563: Transfers vehicles to vehicle recyclers and complies with the national motor vehicle title information system.
