Candidates set for Iowa Senate special election Dec. 27

Although the General Election was just last week, another election will be take place in a little more than a month. A special election was set for Dec. 27, 2016 to replace Sen. Joe Seng (D-Davenport) after he died from cancer this fall. The candidates for Senate District 45 were decided at special party nominating conventions. The Democrat candidate is current Iowa House member Jim Lykam (D-Davenport). The Republicans have nominated Mike Gonzales a police officer from Davenport. Absentee voting will begin soon in this district.
