Broadband bill passes house

The Iowa House passed House File 641 on Tuesday by a vote of 90-5. The bill encourages expansion of broadband in Iowa by developing a grant program and providing a property tax exemption to companies who invest in broadband infrastructure throughout the state. The bill has undergone many revisions and now goes to the Senate Ways and Means Committee for further consideration.
