ABI: Serving as the Voice of Iowa Business

March 12, 2026 | Nicole Crain | ABI

This week was a perfect example of how ABI serves as the Voice of Iowa Business. During the past two days, more than 250 business leaders engaged in meetings and events hosted by ABI –providing value to the members and a voice to Iowa’s business community.

On Wednesday, more than 200 members gathered at the Business Day in Des Moines to hear from legislative leaders in both parties and Governor Reynolds. The event featured an economic outlook and an update on priority issues developed by ABI members.

Fast forward to Thursday afternoon. The U.S. Chamber, ABI and ABI members had a roundtable conversation with U.S. Congressman Zach Nunn about the importance of the Working Families Tax Cuts to Iowa businesses. ABI shared with Congressman Nunn how members have been able to expand their operations, retain and increase the number of employees thanks to the certainty in the law.

At both events, ABI served as the voice of business - something ABI has been doing for more than 120 years.

This week at ABI’s Board of Directors meetings, the unanimous acceptance of the association’s strategic plan reaffirmed that is our continued commitment. Mission Delivery is goal number one and we have already begun that important work.

As we look ahead to the rest of the legislative session and the elections this fall, our role as the voice of Iowa business will continue to grow. Here is what you can expect from ABI:

  • Issue analysis on key legislation affecting your business
  • Non-partisan election education information – including dates and deadlines for you to share with your employees
  • Continued partnerships with national organizations to leverage and amplify ABI members’ perspectives on federal policy issues

Serving as the Voice of Iowa Business is just one piece of Mission Delivery. In future columns, you can read about our other goals and ways in which we are focused on Mission Delivery.

All of us at ABI are grateful to each of you who engaged with us this week and helped amplify the voice of Iowa business. As we enter the spring and summer months, we look forward to sharing additional ways you can engage with ABI.
