How did you get where you are today?

It starts out with grit and determination. When I started the company, the first 5-7 years had a lot of ups and downs. Over the years, what has led to sustainable success, is hiring the right people and getting them in the right seats. Creating a culture and environment that people want to be a part of has been critical to our success!

What excites you the most about the business you work in?

Being a trusted partner to our customers and know that the work we do, truly matters to their overall success.

What do you see as the next big trend in your industry?

AI and machine learning. We have already started to feel the impacts of this and it is changing rapidly.

What does effective leadership mean to you?

Quality Conversations. Accountability! Leading by example! Listening, developing, caring personally and professionally. Creating and keeping a great culture.

What is your favorite thing about Iowa?

Iowa nice! People are overall very friendly and easy to get along with. Another advantage to living in Iowa is that traffic is very manageable and being centrally located, we can get to several major cities within a half of day drive.

What piece of advice would you give your younger self?

I would say that top talent is the key to scaling your business. Make sure to invest in the right people for the right seats. I think also surrounding yourself with people smarter than you is critical to growth. Join associations, peer groups, identify mentors, etc.

ABI truly supports the growth of Iowa Businesses. As a member of ABI, we are exposed to various networking events along with manyopportunities to learn and grow. I have built many new personal and professional relationships due to our membership and participation with ABI.
