Enhancing Iowa's Economy and Environment Though Wetland Restoration

Developers and businesses expanding in Iowa now have a sustainable option to offset environmental impact, thanks to the new wetland mitigation bank established by Ajinomoto Health and Nutrition North America, Inc.

As economic expansions and development sometimes lead to unavoidable impacts on wetlands and natural habitats, our company offers wetland mitigation credits to counterbalance these effects by restoring, creating, or enhancing wetland areas. These credits are available to Iowa cities, counties, and businesses that require them for development and infrastructure projects.

In 2024, we proudly unveiled the Ajinomoto County Line Wetland Mitigation Bank, which restored over 130 acres of wetlands and natural habitat near Eddyville. This project is one of the largest wetlands restoration projects in the region.

Investments in wetland credits through our mitigation bank will support further restoration and beautification of our Eddyville wetland, creating monetary value for additional sustainability initiatives and building an area of pride for our southeast Iowa community.

This project has created a haven for endangered species such as the Indiana Bat, and is home to over 2,500 newly planted trees and shrubs. After the decades-long restoration, this investment is a key example of our global company’s commitment to making local impacts.
