Building Momentum for Iowa Business in 2026
January 8, 2026 | Nicole Crain | ABI
The start of a new year is always an exciting time. It is a chance to reflect, set goals, and build momentum for what is ahead. At ABI, we are energized by the possibilities for 2026 and the opportunity to continue serving our members across Iowa.
Having completed my first full year as ABI President, I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this organization. Our strength comes from the involvement of our members and the dedication of the ABI team, and I am confident 2026 will bring meaningful opportunities for connection, learning, and growth.
- Legislative Engagement: The 2026 Iowa legislative session begins Monday, January 12, and ABI is ready to advocate on your behalf. Our team will be actively monitoring legislation, providing updates, and ensuring members have the information and tools needed to make an impact. Key opportunities to engage include our Legislative Briefing and Reception on January 14 and Business Day in Des Moines on March 11, where members can meet with lawmakers, share their perspectives, and help shape policies that support Iowa business.
- Membership Momentum: We have reached our membership revenue goal for the fiscal year and we are well on our way to reach our new member number goal. This is a testament to the value businesses find in ABI. Whether you are looking to grow your network, engage in professional development, or collaborate with other businesses statewide, now is the time to get involved. Refer a business leader to learn more about ABI. Our mission is clear and they can learn more here.
- Member Engagement and Premier Events: ABI’s Annual Conference in Iowa City and Coralville, June 2-4, 2026, will bring members together for our most anticipated event of the year. This year’s conference will feature new programming, fun venues and engaging sessions designed to generate ideas for your business and strengthen connections across industries. Along with the conference, ABI will continue to host events throughout the year that provide meaningful opportunities to learn, connect, and engage with business leaders from across the state. - Iowa’s Future Workforce: Through the work of the ABI Foundation, we continue to invest in Iowa’s next generation of leaders and workers through programs like Elevate, Leadership Iowa, Leadership Iowa University, and Business Horizons. In addition, ABI is expanding its efforts to connect directly with students by bringing Crystals of Innovation into classrooms across the state. This interactive, age-appropriate experience introduces students to innovation and manufacturing concepts in an engaging way and helps spark early interest in future careers. In 2026, ABI will increase its presence in schools and community settings, and members will have opportunities to volunteer, support classroom activities, and share their real-world experiences to help inspire Iowa’s future workforce.
At ABI, our commitment is simple. We exist to serve you, our members. Whether you want to connect with other businesses, navigate legislative or regulatory issues, or invest in Iowa's talent pipeline, our goal is to help you succeed.
I am excited about the year ahead and cannot wait to see the impact we can make together. Here is to a year of momentum, growth, and engagement. As always, please let me know how we are doing. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.
