DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI), representing 1,500 member companies that employ more than 330,000 Iowans, commends Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds for signing  HF 2355 and SF 2383.

More than 500 ABI members watched as Governor Reynolds signed legislation to support Iowa’s workforce at the Taking Care of Business Conference at the Grand River Center.

“Workforce was ABI’s top policy priority in 2022. We constantly hear from ABI’s member companies about how they are under pressure to recruit and retain employees,” ABI Vice President of Public Policy JD Davis said. “These bills, along with the state’s renewed focus on connecting Iowans with robust careers, are excellent solutions to help Iowans expand their skills and meet the workforce challenges the state’s employers are facing.”

As seen in ABI’s third Quarterly Business Survey, 51% of businesses expect their workforce to grow and continue to implement innovative programs to help employees. Employers are providing significant bonuses, improved benefits packages, and adding innovative programs to meet needs such as childcare.

“Gov. Reynolds’ continued vision for Iowa’s economy will not only help businesses meet their demands, but will also support Iowans in their processes of securing meaningful careers,” Davis added.
