How did you get where you are today?

Iowa’s tight-knit community has been key to my journey. Starting as an intern at Workiva, I grew into a full-time role after graduating from Iowa State in 2012. Workiva's innovative culture connected me with entrepreneurial minds in central Iowa, leading to six rewardingyears as Program Manager at the Global Insurance Accelerator. In 2022, I discovered Maple Studios through another great connection and now have the privilege of leading this startup studio as its director.

What excites you the most about the business you work in?

At Maple Studios, I get to work with early-stage industrial tech companies that are transforming manufacturing and agriculture. The innovation happening in these industries goes far beyond new products—it's reshaping how businesses operate. Being part of this wave of change, especially in sectors critical to our future, is incredibly exciting.

What do you see as the next big trend in your industry?

The next big trend is harnessing connectivity, sensors, and data to drive predictive insights. From real-time monitoring to smarter decision-making, this shift is transforming how industrial technology supports manufacturing and agriculture.

What does effective leadership mean to you?

Effective leadership means meeting people where they are and ensuring they feel heard. By showing empathy and taking the time to understand what motivates each individual, you inspire them to work harder and become enthusiastic, engaged team members.

What is your favorite thing about Iowa?

It’s hard to pick just one thing—I love the friendly people and that no one feels like a stranger, the amazing bike paths, and how easy it is to get around and enjoy everything the state has to offer.

What piece of advice would you give your younger self?

You deserve to be in the room. Don’t waste time doubting yourself—you’ve earned your place. Lean in, own it, and embrace the confidence that comes with it.

Why are you a member of ABI?

Maple Studios and Ramco Innovations have been proud ABI members for years. The connections and industry-focused events have been invaluable to our work and growth.

Who do you look to for mentorship?

I’m fortunate to have a group of mentors and peers who are at similar stages in their careers. Anne McMahon (IEDA), Kaylee Williams (InnoVenture Iowa), Mikayla Mooney (Ag Startup Engine), Liz Keehner (Next Level Ventures), Lana Fox (Clinic Note), and Diana Wright (Des Moines Partnership) have all played a key role in guiding me and opening doors throughout my career.
