Iowa Caucus Toolkit a go-to resource for Iowans

The Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI), in coordination with Economic Progress for Iowa’s Citizens (EPIC) has launched a new online resource to help Iowans prepare for the 2016 caucuses.

The Iowa Caucus Toolkit, available at, features step-by-step instructional videos on how to participate in the Democratic and Republican caucuses as well as historical information and resources employers and others can use to encourage participation.

This nonpartisan resource was created in partnership with the Business-Industry Political Action Committee (BIPAC) with input from both the Iowa Democratic Party and the Republican Party of Iowa.

ABI and its members believe it is important for more Iowans to participate in the election process, and the Iowa Caucus Toolkit is the latest in a series of initiatives to help increase civic engagement.

“The Iowa caucuses are unlike any other election activity and it can be intimidating, especially for first-time participants,” ABI President Mike Ralston said. “The Iowa Caucus Toolkit is designed to help Iowans understand the caucus process so they feel confident when they head to their caucus site on February 1.”

“BIPAC is proud to partner with ABI and EPIC to increase political participation by employers and employees in the Hawkeye State,” said Jim Gerlach, president and chief executive officer of BIPAC. “The Iowa Caucus Toolkit does not tell Iowans how to vote, but educates them about the processes of the Republican and Democratic caucuses and motivates them to participate so they can make their voices heard.”

To help drive engagement, ABI has been working with candidates to coordinate visits with member companies and their employees and participates in a variety of initiatives including Employee Voter Registration Week and the Caucus Consortium Advisory Committee.
